Potatoes and Truffles?
There are so many similarities and differences between potatoes and truffles that it is hard to know where to start. I am still learning so much about these underground edibles.
Both are classified as tubers as they are part of a plant growing underground, but a potato grows on its own, while a truffle forms on a host plant. The other key difference is that a truffle is from the fungi kingdom, while a potato is from the plant kingdom.
We all know the humble spud, often a staple on dinner plates across Australia and around the world. Let's delve into the fascinating world of these two gastronomic wonders.
There is much more to uncover, learn and understand, from their historical roots to their production in Australia.
Hi,
I am Jenny, a seasoned food enthusiast passionate about potatoes and truffles.
I love to eat both simple food and tantalising dishes. I like to see the ingredients shine and the dish awaken all the sensors. I love feeding people and watching their enjoyment of my food. Nothing makes me happier than silent diners because they are too busy eating to talk. I am also pleased to cook something with whatever I have on hand.
I often take parts of recipes and combine them, both ingredients and techniques. I am also well known for substituting when I do not have an ingredient. My pantry is well stocked, but the odd special ingredient often makes the dish sing.
